okay so i've been sitting on this for a few days and i really don't want to admit this but this shit might actually be genius like i'm still coping a bit because anon sold every coin way before i even understood what was happening and i've been traveling around like a rat with no real money, with zero time to actually learn anything properly in crypto but fuck man the more i think about it the more it makes sense here's the thing - i've been in memecoins for years right. watched the same cycle play out over and over. launch, pump, dump, die. everyone makes the same promises about "community" and "diamond hands" but it's all bullshit because there's nothing to actually DO you just hold and pray someone bigger than you doesn't dump first proof of meme is different though (and i hate that i'm saying this) the concept is simple but it took me way too long to get it - instead of rewarding miners for burning electricity or stakers for locking capital (neither of which brings new users or creates culture), you reward people for making memes and voting on them like the tokens literally get distributed to people creating content and building the community it's not some abstract "we have great tokenomics trust me bro" - it's actual proof of work but the work is cultural work not computational work and here's what i was coping about - i kept thinking "but anyone can make memes for free on twitter why would they use chonkler" but that's missing the point entirely on twitter you make memes and maybe get some likes and retweets but you get NOTHING tangible. on chonkler people literally tip you tokens for making good shit.
the community decides what's valuable by putting their money where their mouth is it's like if reddit karma was actually worth something and you could only upvote by spending real value anon was right about everything and i was just being a salty rat because i missed it the proof of value concept makes so much more sense than anything else in memecoins rn. every other project is just "trust the dev" or "believe in the vision" but there's no mechanism to actually BUILD anything with proof of meme you're constantly creating content, engaging, voting on stuff - there's always something to do besides just watching charts
people literally compete on who can make the best shills for it. i've been traveling so much i barely had time to think this through properly - sleeping in random hostels, missing trades, being broke as shit - meanwhile anon built something that might actually solve the memecoin lifecycle problem the more i think about the typical memecoin meta the more depressing it gets. everyone's addicted to the gambling but deep down we all know 99% of projects are just ponzis with better marketing proof of meme at least tries to create sustainable value through culture and content instead of just hoping number goes up or that the dev does something like yeah maybe it fails maybe the whole thing rugs maybe i'm coping by believing in it now after shitting on it but conceptually it's the smartest approach to memecoins i've seen rewarding content creators directly, building actual culture, giving people something to do besides doomscroll charts - this should have been obvious from the start anon understood this before everyone else and i was too busy being a broke traveling rat to pay attention sometimes you gotta admit when you're wrong and i was fucking wrong about this one proof of meme might actually be the future and i'm just slowly accepting it while still coping about missing out the thesis is solid the mechanism makes sense and i should have listened earlier anyway that's my rant probably gonna go back to eating ramen in some random country and thinking about what could have been 😂 but yeah chonkler actually gets it wagmi i guess or at least some of us will lek 4cheese
